We're sensitive to the costs of entertainment and community events, especially in the anime community. For 2018, we decided to simplify our prices to keep things easy and clear for our budgeting - and yours.
ANIMAINE relies on sponsors and charitable contributions to cover the costs of our event. From 2011 until 2017, most of those were paid by Colin Harvie and the Anime Defense Project, a charitable foundation Mr. Harvie ran in Vermont. In 2017, the ADP fund wound down. ANIMAINE is in a good financial position for the future, but we need to make sure that our community understands the costs of our event.
Our annual budget for the ANIMAINE convention is $12,000. Only about $7,000 comes from registration. That means that a $40 pass gets you into $68.61 worth of convention! That additional cost is paid by our sponsors and charitable contributors.
